Portuguese
participation in the Metropolis Project began in 1997 with the
support of the Luso-American Foundation (FLAD) (www.flad.pt).
Three research centres are involved:
- Centro
de Estudos Geográficos of the Universidade de Lisboa (CEG)
- Centro
de Estudos Sociais of the Universidade de Coimbra (CES) (www.ces.fe.uc.pt),
- Applied
Sociology Research Office of the College of Social
Sciences and Humanities of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa
(SociNova) (www.fcsh.unl.pt/socinova/migration).
FLAD
represents Portugal on the Metropolis International Planning
Board and is the institutional support structure that promotes
the connection between Portuguese researchers and the international
network and coordinates initiatives that seek to promote
dialogue between academic institutions, political
decision-makers, public services, NGOs and other relevant
partners interested in the Portuguese immigration issue. CEG,
CES and SociNova are responsible for the following:
immigration and urban policy
(CEG); globalisation, international migration and local labour
markets (CES); and citizenship practices and immigrant
community participation in civil society (SociNova).
In
addition to regularly participating in Metropolis
International's annual international conferences,
Metropolis Portugal, with the support of FLAD, has organised
several workshops in Portugal and published much research in
this area.
In
September 2002, the Centro de Estudos Geográficos,
represented by Lucinda Fonseca, joined the Metropolis
International Planning Board and the Policy and Research Board. |

em 1997 e é assegurada pela Fundação Luso-Americana
(FLAD) (www.flad.pt)
e mais três centros de investigação:
-
Centro
de Estudos Geográficos da Universidade de Lisboa (CEG) (www.ceg.ul.pt),
-
Centro
de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra (CES) (www.ces.fe.uc.pt),

A
FLAD representa Portugal na Comissão Directiva do Projecto
Metropolis,
constitui o suporte institucional
que promove a ligação dos investigadores portugueses
à rede internacional e coordena as iniciativas que pretendem
fomentar o diálogo entre instituições académicas,
decisores políticos, serviços públicos, ONGs e outros
parceiros interessados na problemática da imigração
portuguesa.
numerosos workshops
em
Portugal e publicado numerosos trabalhos de investigação
neste domínio.
Em
Setembro de 2002, o CEG, através da Profª Lucinda Fonseca,
passou também a integrar a Comissão Directiva e a Comissão
